Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Teen Patti is a gambling card-game which originated in Indian subcontinent and it has been played for years together not just in India but also in various other countries of South-East Asia. It originated in the English game of three-card brag which draws influences from poker. The game has undergone widespread transformations, and has spread to various parts of the world, which makes finding a guide to play Teen Patti online very easy. So this game can be further popularised, it is imperative to share a know how of Teen Patti.

AN INTRODUCTION TO TEEN PATTI:
Teen Patti is  normally played by a group of 3 or 6 people and it uses a 52 card pack without the jokers. Each player is given 3 cards in a face down fashion. Before the cards are dealt with, the boot amount is decided. It is then procured from each player. The boot amount refers to the minimum stake amount, which after collecting is kept inside a pot, and then the pot is positioned in the centre of the table. As the game progresses, the boot money amplifies, and the whole amount belongs to the winner of that hand.

Now that makes it important for us to shed light on who is the winner. Winner is the person who survives till the completion of the hand, or in other cases has the best hand or highest hand based on the cards ranking shown below.

RANKING OF THE CARDS FROM HIGH TO LOW:
The ranking is as follows:

  • Trail or Set ( set of same rank)
  • Pure Sequence
  • Sequence or Run
  • Colour
  • Pair(two cards of the same rank)
  • High card

PROCEDURE OF PLAYING TEEN PATTI :
After all the players have given their share of the boot money, they are handed over 3 cards face down. The game progresses in a clockwise manner  and it is the turn of the player next to the dealer to start the game. When the player sees the card, he can play his shot, which in indigenous language is termed as “ chaal” or may have other options to avail depending on the stage of the game. Now it is important to understand some terms.

A player who places the bet without the knowledge of the cards, is called a “blind player”

And the player who sees the card and only then places a bet is called a “seen player”
BLIND PLAYER:
To be a blind player, the first and foremost criteria is to not see the card. The options of “Pack”, “Blind” or “Show” are available. The players can play these according to their availability. Firstly, the bet amount is to be put in the pot. The Blind bet amount is the current stake amount or double the current stake amount. Thus if the first player is the blind player, he has to place a bet with the current stake amount or double the amount of stake.

SEEN PLAYER:
A seen player can play the chaal, pack or may have other options. The other options which are available for a seen player, are “show” or “side-show”. However, once the cards have been seen the player, the person has to play his chaal to remain in this game unless any other option is chosen.

Chaal: To remain in this game, the player must play Chaal or Side Show if available. For chaal, the player must first put the boot amount in the pot. The bet amount for a seen player is either twice or four times of the stake amount.

Side Show: A seen player may call for a sideshow, where the player can compare his cards with another player by his side. However this can be done only if the other player is also a “ seen player” and there are one or more other players in the game.  For the side-show, the player puts twice the stake amount into the pot. The request for Side Show is then conveyed to the previous player, who has the option to accept or deny the request. If the side show is accepted, and the previous player has better cards than the player himself, it is imperative to pack. After one of the two players have packed, the turn passes onto the next player. If the sideshow is denied, both the players remain in the game and then the turn passes onto  the next player.

LIMITED STAKE AND UNLIMITED STAKE TABLES:
For the beginners, Teen Patti is played on a limited stake table. One the first limited stake table, the boot amount is 2 where one can play a maximum of 4 blinds and the maximum chaal that can be played is 256 and the pot limit is 2048.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Sports betting is becoming one of the most lucrative sectors in the world thanks to the digital revolution of the 21st century. People around the world, mostly youngsters between the age of 15 to 25 are getting into the industry thanks to its growing popularity. Here are some facts that everyone in the field might not be aware of regarding Sports Betting.

1) Monetary Volume of Sports Betting:

The overall size of sports betting around the world is extremely difficult to determine, because of a dearth of source and recorded data across different nations. That being said, experts have been able to estimate that international sports betting today have a market capitalization of $250 billion. Sports betting currently accounts for a major portion of the global gambling revenue, (little more than 40%) which is more than any other section like casinos, poker and other games and market research says that it might increase further in the coming years.

2) Laws regarding Sports Betting:

Nations around the world are divided on their standpoints on sports betting.
In USA, accepting or paying off bets is heavily regulated but legal. Currently, a 55 percent majority of Americans are in favour of legalizing betting on pro sporting events. Each state has their own legislature on sports betting and 19 states have made it legal with New Hampshire becoming the latest one to implement the new law.

In India, gambling laws are extremely stringent. Here, offshore casinos have sites that focus on Indian bettors and they offer Indian rupees as payment methods. Detailed reviews of Indian online casinos give an idea of the gambling and sports betting scenarios in the country.
Sporting organisations around the world also have varying opinions on betting. The National Football League, for example, is completely against any sort of legalization of sports betting, and believes it risks bringing in corruption into the game. In contrast, the CEO of the International Cricket Council believes sports betting, particularly in India, should be legalized to weed out illegal Bookmakers that have caused match fixing in the past.

3) Choice of sports for betting:

One of the most wagered sports around the world is soccer or football. The game has a tremendous fan base of over 3 billion people and close to 250 million of them are estimated to actively bet on the different outcomes of this exciting sport. It is closely followed by cricket which also occupies a significant portion on the sports betting market.
Other games that people prefer to bet on are basketball, tennis, golf, Formula 1 and boxing, among others.
The popularity of these sports obviously vary from country to country and may be attributed to factors like wide television coverage, easy availability of vast information, variety of options, etc.  Horse racing receives heavy betting volume in the US, UK, France, Australia, and South Africa, which are all sizeable sports betting markets.

4) Sports Betting stats around the world:

According to the survey data from leading business data platform Statista, over 50% of Americans said they had participated in sports betting at least once in their lives. In 2019, winnings from sports booking from the Super Bowl amounted to approximately 10.78 million U.S. dollars.

The Asia Pacific region contribute to the most significant percentage of sports betting in the world, with Hong Kong and Macau being the leading regions of revenue generation.
The rapid increase over the years can be reasoned by the growing prosperity and digital connectivity in the region. Today, the projected growth rate of Asia’s sports betting market far outpaces any other region in the world.

5) Analysing games and bookmakers:

Punters need to keep in mind while placing a bet that they are playing against not the opponents of their favoured team but the Bookmakers that place their bets. Bookmakers aim to make profit irrespective of what the outcome is. In fact, the chances of winning for bettors are actually slim, because Bookmakers make money when bettors lose, and they tend to place odds that favour them. They want bettors to win just so much so that they keep playing.

The offers of the bookmakers keep changing so it is advisable to look through the offers of few bookmakers before one finds an interesting option. For this, it is a good idea to have accounts on the websites of several bookmakers. There are also some websites that compare and find out the best possible odds of a game which might be helpful for bettors.

For analysing outcomes of a game, it is a good idea to be thoroughly aware of details like, the standings of the teams on the league table, statistics of the players, history, etc. There is no doubt that mathematics and probability play a significant role in strategic decision making while betting on sports.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The Indian Premier League comes around once a year as the cricket world turns its attention to the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

There have already been a dozen editions of the famous IPL tournament. Five of the existing franchises have won the title at least once. The other three are still in pursuit of a title. The Deccan Chargers also won it once, in 2009, but that franchise no longer exists.

Which franchise has won the most titles? Which team has never won despite featuring in three finals? There are some interesting answers to these questions.

Mumbai Indians – 4 Titles

The Mumbai Indians have won the IPL four times. They took the title in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 again. If this pattern is to continue, they won’t win in 2020 but will be crowned champions again in 2021. They have also been in a fifth final, losing to the Chennai Super Kings in 2010. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Mumbai Indians and is one of their best batsmen toward the top of the order. Online platforms like the cricketbetting.org website are helpful resources when it comes to finding out more about the Mumbai Indians and the IPL as a whole.

Chennai Super Kings – 3 Titles

The Chennai Super Kings won the tournament in 2010, 2011 and 2018. They are the only franchise to win the tournament two years in a row. They are also the only team to lose five IPL finals. They missed two IPLs due to a ban, making their ratio of three titles in 11 editions all the more impressive. They have announced that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will continue to captain them despite losing his central contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Kolkata Knight Riders – 2 Titles

The Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL in 2012 and 2014. They beat the Chennai Super Kings and then the Kings XI Punjab in those finals. Former South African all-rounder was the mainstay of their international playing ranks and then their head coach for an extended period, but has since left. They will now be coached by former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, while West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell is arguably their biggest overseas star.

Rajasthan Royals – 1 Title

The Rajasthan Royals won the first ever Indian Premier League in 2008 when the tournament started a groundbreaking stretch that has lasted over a decade and will probably go on for much longer. They beat the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural final. The franchise has been associated with many famous Australians over the years, including Shane Warne and Shane Watson. The latter was named Player of the Series the year they won the first title.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – 1 Title

With wily New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson in charge, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have been an impressive unit since morphing from the Deccan Chargers. The Sunrisers won the IPL in 2016 and were back for another final in 2018, but lost that one to the Chennai Super Kings. They’ve had Shikhar Dhawan and many other superstars in their ranks over the years.

Royal Challengers Bangalore – No Titles

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been in three finals but lost all of them. They lost the 2009 final to the Deccan Chargers. In 2011, they were downed by the Chennai Super Kings. In 2016, they were defeated by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. This is a remarkable lack of follow-through for a franchise that has always been packed with batting firepower such as Virat Kohli.

Kings XI Punjab – No Titles

The Kings XI Punjab finished runners-up to the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. They finished third in the first ever IPL in 2008.

Delhi Capitals – No Titles

The Delhi Capitals used to be known as the Delhi Daredevils. They have never even reached a final, but finished third in 2009, 2012 and 2019.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The under-pressure Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Friday, suspended the start of this year’s Indian Premier League from March 29 to April 15 in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused massive upheaval across the globe.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to suspend IPL 2020 till 15th April 2020, as a precautionary measure against the ongoing Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation,” the BCCI said in a statement.

This came hours after Delhi government said it will not allow any sporting activity in the national capital due to the health crisis. Delhi is home to the Delhi Capitals IPL franchise.

India has more than 70 positive coronavirus cases so far and recorded its first COVID-19 death on Thursday in Karnataka.

“The BCCI is concerned and sensitive about all its stakeholders, and public health in general, and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that, all people related to IPL including fans have a safe cricketing experience,” the Board stated.

The Board said it will work closely with the central government to tackle the situation.

The Central government has suspended all visas to India till April 15 as part of measures to contain the spread of the pandemic which has put IPL’s scheduling in doubt.

The Sports Ministry has also asked all National Sports Federations (NSFs), including the BCCI to follow the Health Ministry’s guidelines. As per the guidelines issued, it has been asked to avoid large public gatherings.

World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday had declared the coronavirus outbreak a ‘pandemic’ and expressed deep concern.

The IPL is set to be a closed-door affair owing to the global crisis, which has caused close to 5,000 deaths.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sourav Ganguly has revealed a decision on this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League is relatively imminent.

The 13th edition of the IPL was scheduled to take place earlier this year. It was then postponed for a couple of weeks – and later deferred indefinitely.

Whether the tournament is played this year remains in the balance. It might fit into the window provided by the possible absence of the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

The Mumbai Indians are the reigning IPL champions, having won the tournament four times – and are still a favourite with those who are placing sports bets online. They are priced at 5.00 for a fifth title, but will face stiff competition from the Sunrisers Hyderabad at 5.50. Hyderabad have only one IPL title to their name, but threatened for a second in the 2018 and 2019 finals.

What Ganguly said

“Cricketing activities have come to a complete standstill and it seems that it will take a couple of months to resume training and competitive cricket in India,” Ganguly said in a statement this month.

“The IPL 2020 was scheduled to start from 29 March 2020, however it has been indefinitely postponed.

“The fans, franchises, players, broadcasters, sponsors and all other stakeholders are keenly looking forward to the possibility of IPL being hosted this year.”

Global attraction

Stars from all over the world compete in the Indian Premier League. The Sunrisers, for instance, are captained by Australian David Warner. The Chennai Super Kings have South Africans Imran Tahir, Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi. There are several other examples of players from abroad adopting IPL franchises for the duration of the tournament.

Countries from which the IPL draws participation

  • New Zealand
  • England
  • South Africa
  • Australia
  • Sri Lanka
  • West Indies
  • Bangladesh
  • Afghanistan

“Recently a lot of players, both from India and other countries, participating in IPL have also shown their keenness on being a part of this year IPL. We are optimistic and the BCCI will shortly decide on the future course of action on this,” added Ganguly.

Football’s example

The BCCI will likely draw example from the German Bundesliga, La Liga in Spain and English Premier League, which have returned to competitive action behind closed doors.

“The BCCI is working on all possible options to ensure that we are able to stage the IPL this year, even if it means playing the tournament in empty stadiums,” concluded Ganguly.

Favoured franchises

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have played in all 12 editions of the Indian Premier League, but are still in the hunt for a maiden title. They have a power-packed batting unit with global superstars such as AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli – and are priced at 8.00 to win the 13th IPL.

The Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, like Bangalore, are offered at long odds for the title at 9.50 and 10.00, respectively.

Knight Riders’ take

The Kolkata Knight Riders, meanwhile, have two titles to boast about and are offered at 7.50 for a third. Knight Riders chief executive officer Venky Mysore is confident the franchise can succeed – on and off the field – in the unusual circumstances.

“We’re definitely going to have some challenges,” Mysore told ESPNcricinfo recently.

“If we’re lucky enough that things will settle down or the tournament will take place later this year, it’s clearly going to be in what they’ll call as a stadium lockdown mode.

“The challenge to us is how do you activate the sponsors? Are there ways in which you can compensate for this?”

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Even an individual who knows the bare minimum about India knows one thing for certain – India loves cricket! This comes as no surprise, given that over 90% of the global audience of the sport happen to be Indians, as per a report conducted by ICC. India’s obsession with the sport is unparalleled and can only be compared to Brazil’s love for football or the USA’s passion for basketball.

Initially introduced to the country in the colonial era as a gentleman’s game, cricket has seeped into our national consciousness, our DNA, if you will. From little boys playing street cricket in the bylanes of small-town India to men playing a gentle game in posh clubs, it is everywhere, and it is here to stay. The craze is only heightened when international tournaments such as the ICC T20 World Cup and the latest ICC Cricket World Cup took place. Statistics say that the average age of fans is 34, with a gender ratio of 39 per cent female and 61 per cent male. Let’s try to understand the astounding popularity of cricket in India, and why play fantasy cricket is the way for you to get into the meat of the game and make it your own.

India’s love affair with cricket

What makes cricket so popular in the country? Firstly, it’s really easy to play. Setting up a pitch is easy anywhere, especially in the narrow lanes of India where cricket stars are born. It also lends itself to a lot of innovation. For example- and a lot of us can relate to it- stumps can be made out of anything, from bricks to twigs. When it comes to using a ball, anything works- even a commonly available tennis ball! And owning a cricket bat is nearly every little boy’s joy and pride.

The success of world-class players like Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble in the early days of India’s international cricket dominance helped inspire younger players to take up the sport. As they say, success begets success!

The emergence of the highly lucrative, star-studded, homegrown IPL has taken the popularity of the sport to another level, as people are now able to see their favourite national and international players in stadiums closer to home. This year, IPL viewership was up by 21% as compared to 2018! 345 million urban and rural viewers tuned in to watch the IPL in 2019, and its popularity has particularly increased among female viewers, going up by 21% since last year.

India’s victories in ICC tournaments are also major reasons for the enduring love of the game. Star Group, which has the exclusive rights to broadcast the ICC Cricket World Cup in India, revealed that the viewership crossed over 182 million. People love to watch the game, but more so participate in it, with fantasy cricket.

Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

The Indian Premier League’s Governing Council on Sunday decided to retain all its sponsors, including Chinese mobile company VIVO, and approved COVID-19 replacements in the event to be held in UAE this year. The tournament will be played from September 19 to November 10, the IPL GC decided after a virtual meeting on Sunday. “All I can say is that all our sponsors are with us. Hopefully you can read between the lines,” an IPL GC member told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Chinese sponsorship became a bone of contention after the clashes between the Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh in June.

The BCCI had promised to review the deals in the aftermath of the violent showdown. In another major decision, the IPL GC also approved the women’s IPL, a development that was first reported by newsmedia after speaking to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Sunday.

Forced out of India due to the rising COVID-19 case count here, the IPL will allow unlimited COVID-19 replacements considering the delicate health safety situation across the globe.
