Ansar Club cruise to easy win in Senior Division

Nagpur News: Ansar Club recorded the 2-0 victory over Eleven Stars, in Meghe group sponsored senior division tournament organized by NDFA at Police Line Takli ground onNovember 24, 2013.

Ansar Club boys were leading by 1-0 in the first half. Salim Javed put them ahead in the 21st minute. After the break, Mohammad Ameen increased the lead 2-0 in the 45th min. Eleven Star players tried their best to reduce the deficit and bounce back but the rival defenders were equal to the task. During the proceedings match referee cautioned Mohd. Ameen in the 40th minute and Salim Javed of Ansar Club in the 78th minute for their rough tackle.
In Meghe group sponsored first division tournament at Police Line Takli ground, Al-Aziz Sports Club staging a spectacular comeback defeated Big Ben FC 2-1. All the goals came in the second half. In the first match after a barren first half, Mohd. Kafeel gave 1-0 lead to Al-Aziz in 68th min. Two minutes later Mohd. Faizan levelled the score and once again struck in the very next moment. Saurabh Malve of Big Ben earned a lone goal in 20th min. Mohammad Kafeel (60th min) of Al-Aziz and Ankur Bhattachariya (20th min) of Big Ben were shown yellow cards for rough tactics.

In the second game, Taj Sporting thrashed Yamaha FC 1-0 where Sheikh Asif struck a tremendous lone goal in the 20th min against Yamaha. However, during the proceedings match referee gave marching orders to Abhinav Sadan (55th min) and Sheikh Roushan (70th min) of Taj Sporting.

Nagpur News: Vaibhav Patel and Abhishek Sarda, two ardent cue sport enthusiast succeeded in cueing their ways to the fifth round in Billiards whereas Shravan Mehta outwit Rohan Paul in Snooker Contest in the ongoing Gondwana Club Billiards and Snooker Tournament on November 24, 2013. This well-liked annual event is being conducted by Gondwana Club as its premises atop the lush green Seminary Hills.

While Vaibhav Patel and Abhishek Sarda outsmart Ajay Agrawal and Harshavardhan Naidu 151-130, 151-104 respectively in the first and fourth round Billiards contest. Vijay scripted comfortable victory in Billiards prior to that he also won the second round outing of Snooker contest outwitting Varun Pasari.

Nagpur News: Rahul Brothers blanked Qidwai Sporting 2-0 in the super senior match of Meghe Group sponsored Senior Division Football Tournament at Police Line Takli ground onNovember 25, 2013.

Rahul Brothers were leading by 2-0 in the first half. In the 68th minute, Remish Puri put them in the leading position through excellent goal. With few minutes remaining for the break, Sal Sabil netted spectacular goal to double the lead.  During proceedings, Yellow cards were shown to Anthony Peter of Rahul Brothers in 4th min and John Bernard in 42nd min. The match referee gave marching orders to Zobil of Qidwai and Tausif Khan in the 30th min 82nd min respectively.

In the outing of Meghe First Division, Nagpur City Club defeated IFFC 3-0. After playing a barren first half, Sameer Kasam breaks the deadlock and gave 1-0 lead to NCC. In the 15th minute, Rahul Sahani sustained their score to 2-0. In the 85th min, Vineet Sharma struck the tremendous goal and gave the victory to NCC. During the outing, match referee cautioned Ankush Rathod of Nagpur City in the 21st min. In addition, match referee cautioned Sagar Mishra (89th min) of NC, (Anil Yadav 89th min) of IFFC and Daniel Thandekar (89th min) with the red card.

Nagpur News: Nagpur District Athletic Association and Ramesh Dhawad College of Physical Education will be jointly organizing Netaji Subhash District Cross Country on November 30, 2013 at 7 am. The race will be flagged off from Electronic Zone, MIDC, Hingna road.

During the meet, Nagpur district team will be selected for the State Cross Country to be held at Sindhudurg from December 15. The cross country will be organised in various categories i.e. men’s (12 km), women’s (8 km), Under-20 boys (8 km), Under-20 girls (6 km), Under-18 boys (6 km), Under-18 girls (4 km), Under-16 boys and girls ( 3 km) and Under-14 boys and girls (1 km).
An organising committee has been formed under the leadership of principal of Ramesh Dhawad College of Physical Education Dr Asif Sheikh. Other members are Raju Khole, Ramchandra Wani and Sonu Nikhare.

Nagpur District Sepaktakraw Association & Nagpur District Sports Office, jointly organized 1st Nagpur District Sepaktakraw School Games Championship at Nagpur Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Dhantoli, Nagpur on 26th November 2013.

This championship was held under the banner of Maharashtra Sepaktarkaw Association, Nagpur and recognized by Maharashtra Krida Parishad & Maharashtra Olympic Association, Pune as informed Secretary, NSTA Dr Y.V. Pandey through press release

In all, twenty four Schools and Junior Colleges from Nagpur City and Gramin had participated in these tournaments in Under-19 girls and boy’s Category. The Championship was held on Knock-out system. Ajuman High School was the Winners in boys and Dinanath High & Junior College in Girls Section. Both the Winners teams will participate in the Nagpur Division Sepaktakraw School Games Championship which will be held on 27th November 2013 at Nagpur Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Dhantoli, Nagpur.

The Chief Guest of the inaugural function was Principal Dinanath High & Junior College, Sunita Roy. Moreover, Secretary Maharashtra Sepaktakraw Association Dr. Sukdev Biswas, was presided over the function. D.S.O. In-charge Anil Pandey, and Rakesh Ramteke were the Guests of Honour. Earlier, Secretary Nagpur District Sepaktakraw Association Dr. Y.V. Pandey, gave the introductory speech. International Referee Dr. Amit Kanwar, proposed the vote of thanks. The Programe was compiled by  International Referee Amruta Pandey.

The Chief Guest of the concluding function was Management Director Vatsalya Group and President of Maharashtra Sepaktakraw Association Prafulla Gadge.  Dean, S.T.A. Medical College, Rachi  Harihar Prasad Pandey, was the Guest of Honour. Special Guests were Rtd. Assistant Operative Manager Central Railway, Nagpur S.S. Guchhait, and Prakaj Naik from Indore. Other Members present on the dais were Dr. S.Biswas, Dr. Y.V. Pandey, Dr. V.S. Deshmukh, Javed Rana and Dr. Ramesh Mandal.

St John’s players for SGFI hockey nationals

Nagpur News: SHAKEEN Sheikh and Chander Nagrurkar, both students of St John’s High School, have been selected in the Maharashtra hockey team for the School Games Federation of India’s Under-17 nationals.
The national meet is under way at Bhatinda in Punjab. Both the players underwent conditioning camp at Nanded recently from where they were selected.
Shakeen is an excellent midfielder while Chander, son of Rajesh Nagrurkar, NDFA referee, plays as a forward. Both were part of St John’s team which won several titles this year.
In the VHA inter-school final too, Shakeen and Chander showed beautiful game to help their alma matter win the title.
In the state championship held recently,  Chander was adjudged as the best player of the tournament
St John’s School Principal Father Mutthuswami, PTI Tony Samuel and Javed Anwar, Assistant Commandant SRPF Group IV, congratulated both the players and wished them luck.

Sports-BasketballNagpur News: Cagers from Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM), Anushree Kaloti and Parth Mardikar has been selected for the U-19 School National Basketball Championship slated to be held at Bathinda, Punjab, from November 28 to December 3,2013.
The 59th edition of the national meet has been organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
Anushree is a student of Shivaji Science College, Parth studies at the Ambedkar College.
Both the city players were picked to represent Maharashtra during the State selection trials held at Bramhapuri recently.
Earlier, both Anushree and Parth have represented Maharashtra in the U-17 School National Basketball Championship. Even Anushree was picked as a probable player for the World Schools Basketball meet.
Both the players have been congratulated by the president of Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) Sandip Joshi and other members of the district body.

Krida Vikas Sanstha trounced Orange City “B” 3-2 in the Late Jawaharlal Darda Second Division League organized by Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA) in association with Lokmat Pvt. Ltd at Central Railway Ajni ground on November 27, 2013.
In the first half halftime, Pankaj and Swapnil opened account earning two goals for the Krida Vikas Sanstha in the 24th minute and 30th min respectively. Krida Vikas kept their dominance show on throughout the first half as Shahrukh Khan struck third goal for side in the 49th minute. This was followed by another goal by Mahesh for Orange City in the 6th min. However, Raju Khade again found the net in the 69th min for Orange City but failed to equalize the score by a close margin. Anwar (35th min) and Amit (37th min) of Orange City were cautioned with yellow card during the match.

In another match, Eagle Sporting “B” drubbed Pandav XI 2-0. Eagle Sporting scored through Sagar Meshram (15th minute) and Swapnil Nagrare (35th min).
Eagle Sporting’s Kunal (20th min) and Pandav XI’s Manish (40th min), Mohsin khan (42nd min) and Sebestin (50th min) were warned with yellow cards.

Porwal Sports Academy recorded a 4-0 win over V.T.C Sports Academy in the VHA ‘B’ Division Hockey League here at association’s Amravati road ground, on November 27, 2013. The tournament has been organised by Vidarbha Hockey Association.
Porwal Sports dominated the game right through the beginning of the game as Niraj Pali advanced his side as early as in the 7th minute.
Vinod Badvail scored his first goal in the 12th minute to double the lead. One minute later, in the 13th minute, Ankit Thakur scored a goal to make it 3-0. Nilesh Gajbhiye followed the suit as he struck fourth goal for Porwal Sports in the 23rd minute. This goal ensured Porwal Sports an easy 4-0 win.

Meanwhile, in a boy’s event, Cosmos Club Ajni pipped Eagle Academy 4-2. For Cosmos, 2nd and 6th goal was scored by Ashwin Grawkar in the 24th and 39th min. After the 2nd goal, five minutes later, third goal and fifth goal struck by Ravi Yadav in the 29th min and 32nd min. However, for Eagle Acdemy, first goal earned by Akhbar Ansari in the 3rd min and fourth goal struck by Rohit Chaudhary in 31st min.

Nagpur News: GNIT and Eagle Sporting defeated Pandav XI and Krida Vikas respectively in the Late Jawaharlal Darda Second Division League organized by Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA) in association with Lokmat Pvt. Ltd at Central Railway Ajni ground onNovember 29, 2013.
In the match which, played at morning session, GNIT upset Pandav XI 1-0.
Shawnil Rego put their side ahead by scoring a goal in the 63rd min respectively. Anand (46th min), and Melcom Anthony (57th min) of Pandav cautioned with the yellow card whereas Nehal Yadav 29th min, Piyush Yadav 67th min of GNIT warned with yellow card. Sandeep (51st & 69th min) of Pandav got the red card during the proceedings. Also, Kunal Paul 65th min, Sandeep 69th min of Pandav penalized wih the red card by match referee.

In the second match, Eagle Sporting “B” beat Krida Vikas Sanstha 2-0. Rohit Kathaote of Eagle Sporting found the net in the 25th min and opened their account.The winning goal for Eagle Sporting was scored by Swapnil in the 65th min. Krida Vikas Sanstha was unable to score any goal.

The other matches of Meghe Senior Division and Meghe First Division were cancelled due to the unavailability of ground.

Nagpur News: Swami Vivekanand Inter-School Football Championship was inaugurated at on Nagpur University Ground on November 29,2013, with great enthusiasm and fervor. This Football Championship, organised by Prahar Samaj Jagruti Sanstha.

Swami Brahmasthanand of Ramkrishna Math,Nagpur was the Chief Guest of the  inauguration ceremony.The programme started with the welcome of Swamiji by C P & Berar Education Society’s. Prahar Military School band. Indeed it was an eye-catching moment. Swamiji graced the dias and performed Bharat Mata Pujan. President of Prahar Samaj Jagruti Sanstha Col (Retd) Sunil Deshpande welcomed the Chief Guest by presenting him a memento and a floral bouquet.

In his inaugural speech he lauded the inspiring activity of Prahar Samaj Jagruti Sanstha, as sports plays a very important role in our life. Further he narrated that Swami Vivekanand was an ardent fan of football and throughout his life he gave importance to physical strength which ultimately gives mental strength.

C P & Berar Education Society’s Prahar Military School won the opening match against

St.Xaviers School,Hiwarinagar by beating them 4-1 and brought a proud moment to fly the

Prahar flag. Badal Chaudhary and Rohit Mirani shoot 2 goals each for the team. Everyone enjoyed with high spirits. C P & Berar Education Society’s Prahar Military School team put up  a marvelous picture of team effort on the ground and played an aggressive game. President of  Prahar Samaj Jagruti Sanstha Col (Retd) Sunil Deshpande congratulated the players. He also  presented a memento to each player of St.Xaviers team.

On this occasion President of Prahar Samaj Jagruti Sanstha Col (Retd) Sunil Deshpande,  Fg Offr Shivali Deshpande, Principal C P & Berar College ,Tulshibag Shri Milind  Barahate, Mr.Jeet Punyani,Mr.Atmaram Pande, Principal,Prahar Military School Mrs.Shubha  Mohgaonkar, Swami Antaranandji, Nagpur Vivekanand Kendra Chief Shri Bharat Joshi &graced the dias. Mrs.Shama Deshpande and Mrs.Sneha Mahajan were also present.

Mrs.Vandana Kulkarni conducted the programme. During the day Vice Chief of Nagpur Vivekanand Kendra,Shri Vasant Kinhekar visited the ground and inspired the players.

Gondwana Club Billiards and Snooker Tournament

Nagpur News: Top seeded Yogesh Sarode smiled his way through a first round snooker outing in the ongoing Gondwana Club Billiards and Snooker Tournament at Gondwana Club Seminary hills, on November 30, 2013 outwitting Ashish Ujwane 43-36, 70-35.

Moreover, Ujwal Kothari made it to round two defeating Pankaj Chokhani 77-24, 90-08.

In other late Saturday night billiards outings, Yogesh Sarode made it to the quarters in the three-ball game scripting a 150-87, 152-141 win, in a best of three matches.

Anand Raj made it to the second round with a break of 61, getting past Saurabh Rai 150-54.

However, Rohit Gandhi outsmarted Shrikant Kapse 150-114, in the third round of billiards

The inauguration of the meet was done at the Hands of Principal IDCPE Dr. Anil Karwande. The Chief Guest for the function was Secretary SJAN Kishor Bagade and other prominent persons present on the meet were Dy. Director Land Record Nagpur Division D.S. Talpe , Dist.  Superintendent, Land Record Suryakant More, Dist.  Superintendent, Land Record Gadchiroli Kamalkar Itekar , Dist.  Superintendent, Land Record Wardha S.C. Surywanshi, President Nagpur Dist. Armwrestling Association Pramod Walmandare, Gen. Secretary, All India Tug of War Federation Prof. Shrikant Warankar, Vijay Katwate , Shashikant Deshmukh, kiran bhoyar and Prof.

Nagpur News: Qidwai Sporting drubbed Eleven Star 1-0 in the ongoing in the super senior match of Meghe Group sponsored Senior Division Football Tournament at Police Line Takli ground on November 30, 2013.

Qidwai Sporting struck a lone goal through Rafat Ansari  against Eleven Star and score 1-0 in the 54th min. Although, Eleven Star launched some attacks on Qidwai Sporting, they could not turn them into goals. Interestingly, players from both sides were shown cards during the match. Rafat Ansari (54th min), Atif Qazi (55th min), Sagar Gotapalli (62nd min), Zabin khan (85th min) of Qidwai were cautioned with yellow cards. Apart from this, Tausif Khan (86th & 90+2 min) of Quidwai was warned with red card. Rafaz Ansari 66th min of Eleven Star was also warned with yellow card

In the another outing, Nagpur City Club “B”  thrashed Rohan Academy 1-0 in the Late Jawaharlal Darda Second Division League organized by Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA) in association with Lokmat Pvt. Ltd at Central Railway Ajni ground.

The only goal for NCC B was scored by Vaibhav Pantaune in the 68th minute. However, Rohan Academy failed to score any goal against Nagpur City. Shubham Pastul of NCC shown was shown yellow card in the 76th min and Ajit Bose of Rohan was also penalized with yellow card in the 7th min.

Rasika Raje, a name synonymous with Orange City’s budding Badminton stars, has broken the jinx when she achieved the glory by winning her maiden national-level title. Rasika triumphed on the final day of the 12th Union Bank All-India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament held at the KBA courts, Bangalore in Karnataka on Saturday.

The talented 18-year-old shuttler made her Nagpur a proud city by her hands and head high. Rasika, born and brought up in Nagpur, is full of confidence and a determined badminton player with an aim to reach pinnacle of glory. But the path to success is not easy one. Rasika is coached by Prasad Sir and Robin Simon and the Subedar Hall is not just a Hall but a temple for Rasika for dedicating all her efforts to bloom in Badminton court with hardest practice under the watchful eyes of her coaches. Passion for Badminton overflowed in her mind and heart since Rasika was in 3rd grade. And now that passion made her a part of Maharashtra team for shining in National tournaments and also part of Nagpur team for playing in State tournaments.

In the12th Union Bank All-India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament for U-19 Girls, Rasika outshined to the top seed in singles final. In an awesome game of Badminton, Rasika rallied back superbly to stun top ranking Reshma Karthik 21-7, 21-17, 21-19 in 50 minutes. Karnataka’s Reshma saw her title race going the self-destruction way after a promising start.

Rasika excelled even in U-17 and U-19 Girls doubles by grabbing the titles. But she failed to pocket the singles title in Under-17. She had lost to Reshma in the final and had never beaten her in her previous four meetings. Rasika, a trainee of Pullela Gopichand Academy, was in IBL team Mumbai Masters.

Rasika Raje is again going to participate in the upcoming event to be held in Chandigarh. Team events were conducted from November 29 to 30 which will be followed by individual events from December 1 to 5. And Rasika will certainly make Nagpur proud is foregone conclusion.
While having an interactive session with Rasika Raje, she shared some of her finer points with Nagpur Today that made her achieve success.
Rasika disclosed, “They get up at 4 am and their first training session starts from 4:30 am and lasts till 6:00 am. Then, after a short break, the 2nd training session begins from 7 am till 8:30 am. Then again, after a short break, the last session of the morning is carried out from 10:30 am to 12 noon. The off court training or gym session is held from 4 pm to 6 pm and if the time permits, I practice standing strokes. My food contains appropriate amount of nutrients, vitamins, carbohydrates etc. needed by the body in appropriate amount. My food must have chicken, mutton, fish, mutton or chicken soup and 2 boiled eggs,” Rasika said with confidence and determination staring her face.
Rasika Raje concluded by saying, “Hard work and dedication are the buzzwords for her to reach the stars in style. For me sky is not the limit. Rather it is just a milestone pointing out very clearly that hundreds of milestones have to be reached in my journey in the Badminton courts and I will surely reach there soon,” she said.

Garuda SBI Tiger Cup Golf Tournament 2013 was organized at Garuda Golf Institute, Kamptee, wherein many enthusiast golfers from the city participated.
Rakesh Bhalla was declared winner of the cup with Stable Ford score of 42, while Dinesh Agrawal was runner up score of 36.
Best net winner of the tournament was Group Caption A. K. Upadhyay (68), while runner up was AVM J. V. Singh (73), while under Gross category winner was Col. Anil Vishnu Akulwar (86) and runner up was won by Ajit Ingole (88).
Maximum Pars winner was Tejinder Singh Renu (7 pars & 1 Birdie), while Pranav Mardikar won maximum Birdies prize.
Longest drive with a distance of 276.70 meters was won by Group Caption LVS Ramesh, while runner up in longest drive was won by J. S. Gill (270.40 meters).
Col. Daljeet Singh won closest to pin award, while runner up was Jayant Darvekar. Closest to Centre Line prize was won by I. M. Mehta and runner up was Luv Bajaj.
In veterans’ category played over 12 holes, Wg Cdr (Retd) S. K. Ketkar was declared winner in Stable Ford category with a score of 14, while runner up was Lt. Col. (Retd) Mrigendra Singh. Maximum Pars was clinched by Ardman Singh, while longest drive was won by Amarjeet Singh (233.50 meters).
Putting competition was held amongst ladies, wherein the winner was Anjali Wasade and runner up Jyoti Singh.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Brigadier Satish Wasade, Commandant of Guards Regimental Center, Kamptee.

The first match of the Maghe Senior Division on Monday saw an exciting contest between Rahul Brothers and Ansar Club with both teams playing a superb game of football. The result also pointed out the keen contest with 1-1 draw. A goal at any minute of the game would have decided the deserving winner. The Orange City is fast becoming a centre of significance with one after another Badminton player making the city proud. After ace shuttler Rasika Raje, now Mrunmayi Saoji unfurled the Nagpur flag high while participating in the 38th Junior National Badminton Championship in Chandigarh Monday.

Mrunmayi Saoji, representing Maharashtra, underlined her credentials as a fast improving player when she caused an upset in the third round of the U-17 and U-19 Girls Singles categories on the second day of the Championship.

Qualifier Mrunmayi, who trains in Nagpur under Robin Simon, had been in good form in the state championship and underlined her growing stature as a talented shuttler with a 21-15, 21-13 victory over Anoushka in the third round of the U-17 category and later came back to upset 10th seed Anura Prabhudesai of Goa 8-21, 21-16, 21-19.

In the U-17 pre-quarterfinals, Mrunmayi will face 13th seed V. Harika of Andhra Pradesh, while top seed Rituparna Das awaits her in the U-19 event.

Elsewhere, defending champion and top seed Harsheel Dani of Air India was stretched to the decider by M. Kanishq of Andhra Pradesh. The last time the two faced each other in the Sushant Chippalkati Memorial junior international meet, Kanishq had got the better of his senior opponent but the top seed kept his cool Monday despite the qualifier launching a late charge.

Dani won 21-13, 18-21, 21-14 to set up a pre-quarterfinal clash against 13th seed Harshit Aggarwal of Karnataka.

Eleven Star beat Qidwai Sporting via-tie-breaker 4-3 in the eliminator match of Meghe Senior Division Football Tournament here at Police Line Takli ground on November 3, 2013. The tournament has been organised by Nagpur District Football Association which is sponsored by Meghe Group.

In the tie-breaker, Eleven Star scored their first goal through Mohd. Alfaiz. This was followed by second, third and fourth goal by Shadab Ansari, Mohd. Faizan and Sohail Akhtar respectively with the regulation time of 0-0. Wherein, Adnan Khan, Shoeb Khan, and Aquib Khan of Qidwai Sporting scored three goals but failed to equalize the score against Eleven Star. During the tie-breaker, Aquib khan of Quidwai was shown a yellow card in the 70th min.

Meghe first Division
Al-Aziz Sports Club blanked Nagpur City Club 3-1, in the First Division Football Tournament. Mohd. Kafeel of Al-Aziz struck a first goal in the 32min. Zakir Sheikh of NCC opened the account by scoring a lone goal in the 66th min. Nevertheless, Usman and Mohd. Tabrez Sheikh of Al-Aziz scored two more goals in the 74th and 80th min. Aquib Iqbal of Al-Aziz was cautioned with yellow card duirng the match.

Chota Nagpur cruised into the semi-final as Blaise Kujur struck three goals against Cosmos Club in the VHA ‘B’ Division Hockey Tournament underway at VHA ground on November 3, 2013. Chota Nagpur blanked Cosmos Club 5-1. The tournament has been organised by Vidarbha Hockey Association.

Chota Nagpur played relentlessly right from the very beginning. Rock Thakur scored first goal Chota Nagpur as early as in the 18th minute. Ravi Yadav of Cosmos Club scored a goal through Ravi Yadav in the 27th min.  However, Blaise Kujur scored 2nd, 3rd and 4th goal in the 42nd, 43rd and 51 min for Chota Nagpur. Again last winning goal was struck by Rohit Kindo in 54th min.

During the match, Rock Thakur of Chota Nagpur received 1 green and 1 yellow card. Also, Sylvester Das got 1 green card and Anup Tirkey received I yellow card.For Cosmos, 1 yellow card shown to Ujwal Dhanskar and 1 yellow shown to Aniket Khandare. Cosmos create 9 penalty corners only to success but lose the game.

In another match, VTC Sports Academy beat Ramesh Chandak 5-0, in the ongoing VHA Girls School HockeyLeague. VTC scored three fabulous goals through Samiksha Mahakulkar in the 2nd, 8th and 11th min to maintain 5-0 lead.
Later, within two minutes, Harshandi Bodele scored another goal in 13th and last winning goal was scored by Sayali Sahare in the 29th min to record a 5-0 win.
