Nagpur Today : Nagpur News

Nagpur Krida Prabodhani revoked the admissions of 29 players giving various reasons like underperformance and medically unfit. On the other hand, players claimed that the reasons given by the management are totally wrong.

sportsNagpur News.

In an unusual development, a sports organization and its players came out and played a wordy game by hurling unsportsmanship accusations against each other. On one hand, Nagpur Krida Prabodhani, giving reasons of poor performance, no improvement, lack of physical fitness revoked the registration of 29 players. On the other hand, players totally contradicted the claim.

District Sports Officer, Deputy Director and Principal of Nagpur Krida Prabodhani Vijay Santan expelled these 29 players from the organisation. However, the players claimed that this is total injustice meted out to them as the management did not give any proper evidence to justify the reasons. The players also claimed that they are not getting coaching from the trainer and added that the coach Jai Kumar Tembhare did not give them training for a single day. A press conference was organized by the 29 expelled players at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan on Tuesday in order to clear their stand.

Talking to the media, Arvind Sharma said that it’s not only Nagraj Khursane who suffered  but the 29 players including Suraj Magdum, Mahboob Sheikh, Irfan Nasir Pathan, Baijnaath Abdagire, Akshay Kulsange, Sagar Gupta, Moreshwar Walekar, Sachin Koli, Akshay Dharmik, Roshan Shrawankar, Aditya Potbhare, Komal Hohle, Mohit Ishwarkar, Aditya Kalamkar, Vikram Rithe, Ramesh Wasawe, Shivpal Gadhwe, Ashik Shende, Nilam Fadtare, Maheshwari Raut, Sakshi Falke, Shreya Halmare, Akansha Gaekwad, Sonali Barkade, Seema Raut, Chandrabhaagaa Kachre, Supriya Ghadge, Amrapali Bhoyar and Pranay Sundarkar who have been expelled from Krida Prabodhani are good players.

It is important to note that  players who had left Nagpur Krida Prabodhani include players who had proved themselves good athletes. Nagraj Khursane is a star athlete and has 19 gold medals in his baggy.  Khursane is certainly an international athlete but he left Nagpur Krida Prabodhani only because he was not getting coaching there. According to Nagraj Khursane, the coach Jai Kumar Tembhare did not give him training for a single day in the past two years and therefore his performance took a beating.

The players also claimed that they don’t get proper diet, kit, books and guidance at the centre and if they complain they get threatened by the coach. “Vijay Santan has the responsibility to give kids all the facility which is provided by Government but why he is not fulfilling his responsibility is beyond our imagination,” said the players at the press meet.

The objective of Directorate of Sports and Youth Services is to promote sports culture as well as prepare players of Maharashtra for international and Olympic level tournaments.  The Directorate must select the talented players in the state and provide them scientific training, proportionate diet and updated sports facilities, said the players.

A very interesting match was played between South Eastern Central Railway and Young Muslim Football Club organized by the “Nagpur District Football Association” on July 3, 2014.

While rains played the spoil-sport by making the entire ground wet and slippery, the players had mixed reactions. While some enjoyed slipping and enjoying the slippery ground, others rued the wet ground which made their kicks difficult hindering the smooth movement of the football.

Nagpur News:

The racer for our own city Anshul Manoj Shah claimed second position in the opening race of 2014 Season of the Volkswagen Polo R Cup India – 2014.

Anshul managed to grab the second position once again in the Round 2 of Race 1 in-spite of the tricky weather conditions that prevailed during the race held on 13th July 2014 at Kari Motor Speedway – Coimbatore.

Round 2 (Race 1)

Anshul Shah with his reward

Anshul Shah with his reward

Anshul Manoj Shah elevated the pride and honour of Nagpur. Anshul returned with an equal zeal and aggression which he is carried with him, right from round 1 of the VW Polo R Cup India – 2014. This race was expected to be as good as or better than round one.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, he said that he focused on his fitness a lot which helped him to achieve success in round 2. To begin with, it was a great start, though he started from the fifth position on the grid. Although it was a tough competition to position himself right from the fifth position to 2nd position from corner one (C1). However, our city lad achieved a big success and made it to the second position till the tenth lap.

When the race began one of the competitors met with a mishap. Before the restart on the safety car lap 2 drivers made an early move on Anshul Manoj Shah. This got them penalized for 30 seconds as they have overtaken under safety car lap which in-turn led Anshul to the second place finish for Anshul Manoj Shah in round 2 Race 1 of the Volkswagen POLO R CU P Championship INDIA.

Round 2 (Race 2)

With rain hitting the tracks for half an hour before the race, Anshul Shah had to proceed on tracks with wet tyres. Though the rain stopped but the rain covered the track with water which made the race tough for all the racers. Commenting on the track Anshul said that it made him difficult to understand how the tyres will react to the track and it also made me difficult to set my driving skills and my mindset on the wet track. Due to the reverse grid Anshul started from the 7th position in the grid. However, he climbed up lap by lap and gave a tough competition to the participants in the race. It was a neck to neck competition when he finished the race in 4th position which made him climb in overall driver standing at the 3rd position in 2014 Volkswagen Polo R Cup Championship India.

He claimed that he would like to dedicate his win to all his sponsors and Nagpur Today.

BCCI’s U-Turn : Umpire Academy is in Nagpur but activities shifted to Bangalore

BCCI Umpire Academy in Nagpur is reportedly at the helm of long going infighting between the current board and Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA). The tension has resulted into the academy going almost defunct without any yield. Sources also indicated the differences between former BCCI president Shashank Manohar and current President N. Srinivisan as the one of the reasons behind actively shifting activities of umpires academy away from Nagpur to Bangalore. The relation between Manohar and Srinivisan reportedly turned sour after the IPL6 spot fixing expose last year.

Since then, the umpires’ activities have been moved to the National Cricket Academy campus in Bangalore. Umpires Academy in Nagpur was formed in 2010 with an objective to provide a wholesome training exercise for domestic umpires to raise their standards. But over the last year no such activity has been witnessed in this academy.

On the other hand, the retired Simon Taufel, the most consistent international umpire over the last decade, will conduct a 15-day umpires’ workshop in Bangalore from Wednesday.

The VCA officials and a few BCCI members admit that the sudden switch from Nagpur is following Manohar’s vocal dissent against N Srinivasan in the aftermath of last year’s IPL corruption scandal. The BCCI, however, has a different take.

However VCA Honorable Secretary Wijay Chitaley beg to differ. Talking to Nagpur Today, Chitaley said, “There is no dispute or controversy at all.” When asked about his reaction on shifting umpires’ activities to Bangalore, he said, “Well that is BCCI’s decision. What can be said in that matter.”

Nagpur Today also tried to contact VCA Executive Member Vishwas Sahasrabhojane but he remained unavailable for the comment.

A BCCI insider revealed that moving umpires’ developmental activities from Nagpur to Bangalore is in line with the BCCI’s plan to bring all its specialist academies under the NCA umbrella. A BCCI office bearer seconded it but refused to speak on record since the proposal is “yet to be ratified by the working committee”.

Despite the reorganisation of the academies, the feud between Manohar and N Srinivasan cannot be overlooked. Interestingly, the alternate venue of Bangalore makes the intra-BCCI political undercurrents even more visible. Karnataka State Cricket Association secretary Brijesh Patel, a Srinivasan aide, is one of the aspirants for the BCCI secretary’s post in next month’s elections.
